Subtle, it's not....

Accessories will definitely have a vital role to play in shaping our Spring/Summer wardrobes in 2011. Leading designers, such as Vivienne Westwood & Malandrino pictured above, have offered up a wide range of oversized jewellery in this season's catwalk collections indicating that the trend started last year continues to be relevant. The difference this time is the move away from precious stones like rubies & emeralds to the emergence of semi precious and more colourful stones - why not go for Chalcedony, Amber or Onyx? www.mimiandted.co.uk/online-catalogue/pendants
The creativity on offer is truly inspirational so check out a few of the trends seen on the runways recently to help you in making your choices - from statement necklaces to stacked bangles & cuffs and cocktail rings, to name but a few.
A word of warning though - choose one of these trends at a time, don't wear stacked bangles AND a statement necklace - one piece is enough to show that you're bang on trend!

The Teenies

No, not those annoying characters on TV that all toddlers love, thanks goodness, but the teen market for collectable jewellery.
It’s nothing new that young girls aspire to be like their Mums/older sisters/aunties and in response to that many jewellery suppliers are branching out into the teen market. The examples we’ve seen so far offer young girls the opportunity to follow the trend for personalised jewellery, bracelets & charms and are a great idea for those of us looking for gifts for “hard to please” teenagers. The jewellery is produced in scaled down sizes and in designs to appeal to the younger crowd. Watch this space for further developments.....

Silver is the new black

It’s official -
the sale of silver jewellery is bucking the recession and designs in silver are currently proving a more popular choice than the traditional gold.
Why? Well aside from the fact that the price of gold hit an all time high in 2009, we believe it’s simply due to our clients having impeccable taste and an eye for great design and quality pieces!
In fact silver is seen by the fashion conscious woman as their preferred choice whether in silver alone, maybe etched or patterned or embellished with precious stones, glass or Swarovski.

Hey, look at us!!

So, here it is at last, Mimi & Ted’s shiny new website (thanks Ollie)! We hope you’ll love what you see – we’ve certainly had fun in selecting jewellery pieces we think you’ll appreciate, although it was sometimes a wrench to offer some of them for sale rather than keeping them for personal wear!
Over the coming weeks we’ll be selecting pieces to take us into Spring/Summer, keeping in mind the trends forecast for SS 2010. Layering will be big this year so wear small pendants teamed with larger gemstone pendants and bracelets can be layered or stacked too. For coloured stones, warm tones will be popular for 2010, so look to amber in shades of yellow, orange or red and other natural materials such as onyx, amethyst or agate are also likely to feature.

We’ll be working hard to bring you the best in unique, quality jewellery and if there are specific designs/brands you would like to see, please do give us a call to discuss or drop us an email – our aim is to provide a personal, high quality service and key to that is getting to know our clients better.
